Leicester Half Marathon

Well done to all our members that did the Leicester Half Marathon today! Good conditions, a bit breezy but dry (we all did well to miss the downpour that we drove through on the way home). There was great support from the many marshals and spectators on the route. Special mentions for Rebecca Randell finishing 3rd female despite jet lag and Jane Evans and Alison Bibb for raising more than £600 for the Stroke Association.

Bagworth HeathSunday 12th December 2021 Location: Bagworth Heath Woods,Heath Road, Bagworth, Coalville, LE67 1DL. Directions: From Thornton or Merry Lees, take signs to Bagworth, then Bagworth Heath Woods. *********Parking: VERY LIMITED – CAR SHARING ESSENTIAL************ Course: On Thornton side of the Heath. Start 11am approx. (note-all runners will start together-no split start for this race) Approx 5.5 miles; comprising of one short lap & 2 long laps; testing hill on both laps; woodland and grassland tracks; approx 150m of compacted gravel over tarmac bridle path on both laps. Note the route has some very slippery sections. £5 – a donation will be made to the landowners Footwear: Spikes or ‘off-road’ shoes would be suitable. Note – there are some sections of gravel track. Now that COVID restrictions are lifted Shepshed Running Club have resumed regular running and we are welcoming new members from Shepshed and nearby towns and villages. We are a friendly and sociable running club catering for runners of all abilities. If you are new to running and are interested in joining please come along to the our Club meetings on Thursday evenings at 6:45 for a 7:00 pm start.
