The County Standards scheme is endorsed by the both the Leicestershire Running and Athletics Network and LRRL. We hope that by creating a scheme covering a wide range of abilities and ages we will motivate more people to improve their running.
Due to the current restrictions LRRL have introduced Virtual County Standards for 2020. More information can be found here.
Certificates are issued on the basis of performances at 5 different distances (9 for distinction) over the course of a calendar year. There are 10 race distances available, ranging from 5k to a full Marathon. There are also 10 age ranges in the distance matrix to indicate what time you need to get for your desired County Standard Certificate.
Certificates are issued based on the lowest ranked County Standard time you achieve. For example, if you achieve 4 Bronze standard times and 1 Copper time, you will be issued with a Copper County Standard Certificate.
To qualify, you must run your time (chip times are OK) in a recognised race with an accurately measured course (unfortunately, this currently excludes all Parkruns except Braunstone and Leicester Victoria Park). Standard times are those for your age on race day.
Races Distances
5k, 5 Mile, 6 Mile, 10k, 7 Mile, 8 Mile, 10 Mile, Half Marathon, 20 Mile, Marathon
