Shepshed Running Club team ready for Bosworth We ended the last race of the season with two full teams today at Bosworth. The mixed course was mainly firm, but the infamous bog was still capable of removing your shoes. There was great running from all of the team with a number of PB placings for a XC race. As it was the last race of the season we should say thanks to all who provided cakes, tea and coffee and lifts for car sharing! Thank you to all who have represented the club today and throughout the season. We've had full teams, great results a lot of fun! Martinshaw Woods Cross Country Report Round 3 of the cross country league at Martinshaw Woods near Groby was another classic. There was technical running through woods with plenty of mud and water to contend with. There was mud - quite a bit of mud. We had the best showing for a cross country race for some time with the welcome return of a number our club members. Everyone put in a strong effort on one of the longest races of the season and we got great results with full Women's and Men's teams. Bagworth HeathSunday 12th December 2021 Location: Bagworth Heath Woods,Heath Road, Bagworth, Coalville, LE67 1DL. Directions: From Thornton or Merry Lees, take signs to Bagworth, then Bagworth Heath Woods. *********Parking: VERY LIMITED – CAR SHARING ESSENTIAL************ Course: On Thornton side of the Heath. Start 11am approx. (note-all runners will start together-no split start for this race) Approx 5.5 miles; comprising of one short lap & 2 long laps; testing hill on both laps; woodland and grassland tracks; approx 150m of compacted gravel over tarmac bridle path on both laps. Note the route has some very slippery sections. £5 – a donation will be made to the landowners Footwear: Spikes or ‘off-road’ shoes would be suitable. Note – there are some sections of gravel track. Thanks to everyone that attended the Club AGM. We are working on the minutes and they will be posted on here as soon as they are ready. Unfortunately the Cross Country race due to be held at Bagworth on Sunday 16th was postponed due to the effects of two significant storms. If it can be rescheduled the information will be posted in the relevant pages. This was entirely the correct decision. The safety of not only runners but race organisers and marshals is more important than racing. Keep safe and dry if you're out running this week!

XC Results update! The combined team were 7th in league 2 at Grace Dieu and have risen from 7th to 6th place overall in division 2 after 4 races out of 7 The Men's team were 9th in league 2 at Grace Dieu and remain in 7th in division 2 overall The Ladies team were 7th in division 1 and have risen from 10th to 9th in division 1 overall This is great performance when you bear in mind our runners were organising the car park until 15 minutes before the race and helped clear up afterwards. An excellent team performance. Well done everyone! Keep it up!
